    Ingredients

  • Red gram dal(thuvar)
    - 1/4 cup
  • Green gram dal(moong)
    - 1/4 cup
  • Black gram dal(urad)
    - 1/4 cup
  • Green gram whole(green moong)
    - 1/4 cup
  • Tomato(chopped)
    - 1
  • Onion(chopped)
    - 1
  • Turmeric powder
    - 1 teaspoon
  • Green chilli paste
    - 1 tablespoon
  • Cummin(jeera)seeds
    - 1 teaspoon
  • Asafoetida
    - 1 small piece
  • Oil
    - 1 tablespoon
  • Chilli powder
    - 1 teaspoon
  • Coriander leaves
    - 1/2 bunch
  • Salt
    - To taste

    Method

  1. Wash and soak all the dals together for an hour.
  2. Cook the dals soft in a pressure cooker.
  3. Do not mash.heat oil add cumminseeds,asafoetida,chopped onions, tomatoes and cook for a few minutes.
  4. Add all the masalas,turmeric powder,chilli powder,green chilli paste,salt and add one cup of water.
  5. Cook for five minutes till the tomato-onion mixture turns into thick gravy.
  6. Add all the dals. mix well, boil for a few minutes.
  7. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
  8. Serve with purees or rotis.
