Tomato Chutney

  • Tomato
    - 500 gm
  • Chilli powder
    - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Rasam powder
    - 1 teaspoon
  • Black gram dal
    - 2 teaspoon
  • Mustard seeds
    - 1 teaspoon
  • Coriander leaves
    - 1/2 bunch
  • Asafoetida
    - 1 small piece
  • Oil
    - 4 tablespoon
  • Salt
    - to taste


  1. Wash and chop tomatoes finely.
  2. Heat oil,add asafoetida,fry a little.
  3. Then add the mustard seeds,when they crackle add black gram dal.
  4. Then add the chopped tomatoes and salt to taste.
  5. Fry for a few minutes.
  6. When the mixture starts leaving the sides and thickens to a paste,add the chilli powder and the rasam powder.
  7. For a few minutes,simmer.
  8. Set aside and garnish with green coriander leaves.
  9. Serve with purees.
